Guanacaste Costa Rica

As the year comes to an end this usually means that the rainy season comes to an end also. Here in Costa Rica the summer vacation for kids is based on the coffee harvest season and at the end of the year is when kids go on their three month summer vacation.

For many families from Costa Rica and from visiting countries Guanacaste is the ultimate place for rest and relaxation. It is the one part of the country that is guaranteed almost no rainfall for a number of months and is probably why so many people have invested in real estate in Guanacaste and not to mention it's countless beautiful beaches that run along it's Pacific Coast.

Some people feel Guanacaste can be isolated from many of the other natural wonders of Costa Rica. With the International Airport in Liberia arriving has become quite easy and now with more and more roads the natural beauties of Rincon de la Vieja and many other places nearby are much more convenient to get to.

Guanacaste will forever be Costa Rica's prime beach escape as you can not compete with the weather or the beaches when visiting or thinking of investing in real estate in Costa Rica. If you are thinking about investing in beach property in Costa Rica please contact us.

Costa Rica & Cars

If you do not know that Costa Rica is one of the world's best example for clean energy then you have probably been sleeping in a cave. With steep mountains, plenty of rain and wind, and people that care about the environment, it makes for the perfect package.

Just like most big cities San Jose has many cars and many cars these days mean a lot of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Well this all might change soon. According to the TicoTimes, Mitsubishi Motors has picked Costa Rica as the first country on the hemisphere to debut their new environmental friendly car. This electric car has a range of around 93 miles on a charge and even more impressive it releases absolutely NO CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Why did Mitsubishi Pick Costa Rica?

Costa Rica is a country that has been known for protecting its land for years, with over 25% of the land protected and some of the most pristine rainforest on the planet. Mitsubishi wants to use Costa Rica as a poster country for this car which goes to say that if they use it in Costa Rica it must be a clean energy car. With clean energy being the business of the future I can assure you that Costa Rica takes this debut of the new car as quite a compliment and much more to look forward to in the future.

This is all the more reason to come down and invest in some property here in Costa Rica. If you are interested in finding a piece for investment or just a second home do not hesitate to contact us, we are available to take your call.

New Website for National Registry

If you are involved in Real Estate or are just a property owner in Costa Rica you have at some point had to use the National Registry site. Chances are if you have not mastered the Spanish language you have had somebody do this for you. Well if you need to check on the National Registry for any reason now you can do it online and in English.

Take a look at their new English site: http://www.rnpdigital.com/eng_principal/index.htm

This is an excellent step forward for Costa Rica and goes to show that English speakers are valued as land owners here in Costa Rica. This is a step forward to make life a little bit easier on those land owners.

The site is new and needs its touch ups but all in all it seems to get the job done. The site gives a perfect overview of the registry's functions, guidelines, and rules (which everyone should follow), and even a glossary to keep you up on terms used in the Real Estate industry.

Costa Rica Economy 2011

Everybody wants to know about the economies and how they are recovering. It turns out as most know the Costa Rican economy is affected without question on how economies in some of the larger countries are doing. Was the Costa Rica economy affected in the last two years? Yes, of course it was but the good news is that it is actually doing relatively well comparatively speaking. Just in the last 11 months which have been dedicated by most nations as recovery time Costa Rica has had signs of economic recovery that have been promising. Tourism and export figures are up, inflation and unemployment rates are down, and foreign direct investment continues to pour in from the U.S. Below is a short exert from the TicoTimes which is Central America's leading English speaking newspaper that talks more about Costa Rica in this time of recovery.

Despite concerns about the expanding deficit and the devaluing U.S. dollar, several economic indicators show that the Costa Rican economy has taken positive steps toward elusive “recovery.” GDP is projected to rise between 3 to 4 percent, consumer prices have risen only 4.36 percent through October, and INEC reports that unemployment fell from 8.4 to 7.3 percent in 2010.

"The 2009 crisis was profound and difficult. The fact that more Costa Ricans found work this year indicates that the economy is doing relatively well,” Ramos said. - TicoTimes Nov. 2010

The recovery obviously relates to the real estate sector here in Costa Rica from many Costa Rican's having the money to invest or you can relate it to more and more tourist coming down and seeing what might be their next vacation home. Costa Rica Property Sizes

Many people after a life of dealing with acres never really grasp onto the difference in dealing with the metric system when they are shopping for real estate in Costa Rica.

To put it simple 1 hectare is 2.46 acres. Although you can easily convert this while looking for properties it helps to get try and start thinking metric when shopping for real estate in Costa Rica. Another way of looking at this is that 1 hectare is 10,000 meters while 1 acre is 4,050.

If you are shopping for larger properties in Costa Rica you are almost always going to be dealing with hectares but if you are looking at smaller properties you will be dealing with meters.

One popular example of dealing with meters is buying a Costa Rican house that is already built. The construction size will be in meters which honestly I have to say after getting use to it makes a bit more sense being a number that is a little bit more easy to relate to suc
h as 250 square meter home would be 2,690 feet. The "250" number is just an easier number to relate to than dealing with the thousands in my opinion.

Also I think it is important to note that Costa Rica was formed by tectonic plates and volcanos which lend itself to it's beautiful topography. This why you often here when buying real estate in Costa Rica comments such as "the property is 5 acres but I can only build on
1 acre". This is the beauty of buying real estate in Costa Rica. It does no necessarily mean your acreage is worth less. There are many benefits to this type of properties in Costa Rica. More times than not it often lends itself to amazing views where your view will never get blocked. Another thing you need to consider is that you will not be probably getting charged full price for the acreage that is not buildable. So you would basically be getting like a bonus of land that you can have as protected land which here in Costa Rica often has a priceless value of being home to monkeys, sloths, white-nosed coatis, and much more.

Luxury Homes Surrounded by Nature

Most properties like this are outside of the Central Valley but I have to be honest I have seen some that are actually in the luxurious developments of the Escazu area that are lots that back up to land that makes its way down to the peaceful running sound of a river. Imagine a large beautiful home in a residential area and you walk out on your back patio and you instantly feel as if you have walked out into natures playground, the untouched virgin rainforest, where you see and hear animals from all over the tropics as you watch from your home as the animals make their way through their natural corridor in co-existence and harmony with some of Costa Rica's most beautiful homes.
